Auditions for "Matilda - The Musical" will be held on the following:
Jan. 31 at 6:00 P.M. and Saturday, Feb. 1 at 10:00 a.m.
THIS IS A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. PLEASE EXTEND SAFETY AND COURTESY TO THE RESIDENTS BY DRIVING, PARKING AND BEHAVING IN A RESPONSIBLE MANNER.
Must attend either Friday night or Saturday (Not both). Auditions will begin with Choreography, then move into Vocals. Please be on time. We will start promptly at the time provided. If you cannot attend on time, please contact the director at 661-802-1120 (Text messages work best).
Please prepare for 30 seconds to a minute of a musical theater song for auditions. There will be no accompanist at the auditions. Please bring a Karaoke track with no vocals on it. NO ACCAPELLA AUDITIONS WILL BE ALLOWED. All those auditioning will also learn a short dance. Please wear comfortable clothing.
We are looking for cast members ages 9 and up. All auditioning will need to be able to sing and dance. No experience required. This is an audition so not everyone will make the cast. We are looking for the following.
Kids ages 9 - 13 - We are looking for about 12 kids including the Lead.
Teens/Young adults ages 13 - 25 - We are looking for about 12 - 15 teens (Singing and dance heavy).
Adults - We are looking for about 10-15 adults to play various roles.

An imaginative girl who is clever and wise far beyond her years. She has a thirst for learning that cannot be quenched. Must be able to Sing, Dance and Act!
Age 9 - 12 (Looks to be around 6 to 11)
MISS TRUNCHBULL (Male)
Headmistress of Crunchem Hall Primary School. Miss Honey's aunt. Once a famous athlete, she is described as a "gigantic Holy terror", a "fierce tyrannical monster" who "marches like a storm trooper with long arms swinging" with an "aura of menace".
Age 30 to 50ish.
MISS HONEY (Female)
A mild, quiet person who never raises her voice and seldom seems to smile - yet possesses the rare gift of being adored by every small child under her care. She should have a curious warmth that is almost tangible.
Age 25 to 45 years old.
MR WORMWOOD (Male)
A dealer in second-hand cars - "a mean crooked crook" - with a penchant for wearing jackets with large, brightly colored checks. Should ideally be a clown like character.
Age 35 to early 40s.
MRS WORMWOOD (Female)
Mother of Michael and Matilda, and the wife of Mr Wormwood. She is obsessed with her amateur Ballroom dancing partner and her looks. Like her husband she thinks very little of Matilda’s unique abilities and often berates her. She is as loud in her makeup and dress sense as she is in her voice – must have strong comedy.
MRS PHELPS (Female)
Warm and nurturing local librarian who encourages Matilda’s love of reading. She has an inner peace.
Age 40s to 60s
Matilda's classmate. He is subject to extreme punishment by Miss Trunchbull. (Must Sing well)

MICHAEL WORMWOOD (Male)
Must be able to fully participate in all ensemble vocal and dance numbers and also to play the Wormwood’s monosyllabic son. Needs good deadpan comedy and the ability to find a character during a lot of stage time with few words.

Ensemble roles - The Ensemble will fill many other roles. There are speaking roles in Ensemble for all age groups.
